2 – 5 Years’ PAE

Experience in Criminal Law desirable

A unique opportunity has arisen to join the team at the Mental Health Law Centre, (MHLC) a Community Legal Centre specializing in the Mental Health area.

This position is initially for 4 months and may be extended depending on funding and satisfactory work performance.

You will be admitted to practice law in Western Australia, have recent experience in criminal law, enjoy working in a team structure, mentoring volunteers and have a desire to improve the lives of people who experience mental health issues.  You will also have an unrestricted driver’s license.

MHLC represents clients who experience mental health issues and require legal assistance in the following areas:

  • Mental Health Tribunal hearings & matters under the Mental Health Act 2014;
  • Criminal matters; &
  • Guardianship & Administration matters

as well as providing a range of services such as legal education and policy reform,  giving you the opportunity to manage an interesting and diverse case load.

The salary range for this position is $72,311 – $78,010 depending on years PAE.  MHLC offers salary packaging and a strong work/life balance focus for lawyers.
