Anna Richards

Anna was appointed as Secretary on December 2012. Anna’s connection with the Law Centre began in 2000 when as a volunteer she did the final edit of the Patients’ Rights Guide to the Mental Health Act. She then worked as the Centre’s Community Legal Educator and has served on the board for a number of years. She works now as a consumer consultant and educator, presenting self management courses for people to live beyond ‘illness’ and anti-burnout courses for family/carers and service providers. Anna is on the board of Consumers of Mental Health WA (CoMHWA) and belongs to a number of other mental health and health organisations. She is committed to strengthening the consumer voice in the mental health sector, spreading the word that people can and do recover from a diagnosis of mental illness and campaigning for an holistic and individualised approach to their needs.  Anna believes that the vital work of the Centre in championing the rights of people made vulnerable by mental distress is a crucial community obligation.
