Nilan Ekanayake has over 10 years of litigation and advocacy experience in both Australia and New Zealand, in private firms and government, including 5 years at the independent bar. He was the Registrar of the Workers’ Compensation Arbitration Service for 3 years where he managed a team hearing and determining workers’ compensation disputes. He also sits on a number of disciplinary Tribunals. Nilan has appeared as counsel across a number of Courts and Tribunals in both State and Federal jurisdictions, in a variety of practice areas. Nilan brings detailed legal knowledge, practice management and supervision experience. During his time at the bar, Nilan offered pro bono assistance on a regular basis. In September 2018, Nilan joined the Mental Health Law Centre to focus on his passion for providing access to justice to some of the most marginalised in society.
